Julia Peacock

CA-42 (D)
Current office holder: Ken Calvert (R)
Julia is a public school teacher, wife, and mother of two children who believes deeply in educational equity, civil and human rights, and empowering all members of society. She began her teaching career in Moreno Valley as a 7th grade English and Language Arts teacher. She then moved on to Boys Republic, a school for incarcerated young men, where she taught reading intervention and the GED program. She has always worked in low-income, high-risk schools because she believes that education is the great equalizer. She understands the importance of health care, after having lost her father 17 years ago to cancer and she believes that health care should be treated as a right, not a privilege.
How does Julia align with Project 100's values?
  • Economic Opportunity: To encourage children to follow the educational path that is right for them, Julia will fight for debt-free college. She will fight for full funding of public schools and for charter schools to be held accountable to the families they serve, not their corporate leaders. Julia also supports equal pay for equal work.
  • Equal Treatment Under the Law: Julia supports a comprehensive path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and will increase economic development across the country to allow money normally spent on detention and deportation to be used in other areas like the environment, education, and health care. She will fight to protect DREAMers and all immigrants who have been in this country for years. She will protect the rights of the LGBT+ community.
  • Healthy People & Communities: Julia supports Medicare for All and access to comprehensive reproductive health care. She believes America should be leading the fight against climate change and creating clean energy jobs. Julia truly believes that health care should be treated as a right, not a privilege.
