Congressmember Betty McCollum is currently serving her ninth term in Congress and at the time of her election was only the second woman to represent the state of Minnesota in Congress. A member of the Appropriations Committee and the Subcommittees on Defense and the Environment and Interior, Congressmember McCollum continues to promote a progressive agenda for working families, children, seniors and women and continually works for economic opportunity, social justice and fiscal responsibility. Before going into politics, Congressmember McCollum was a high school science teacher, and also worked in the private sector.
